Kimi K3.1 is being prepared for release in Kimi Code

A model-switch rule we found in Kimi Code names k3.1 as the destination and includes a warning for users continuing an existing session with Kimi 3.1.

Kimi K3.1 looks to be getting close. We found a model-switch rule in Kimi Code that names k3.1 as its destination, along with a message for users carrying an existing session over to Kimi 3.1. 1

The rule lists six identifiers under from: k3, K3, kimi-k3, k3-256k, kimi-for-coding and kimi-for-coding-highspeed. Under to, it says k3.1. The accompanying English warning reads: 2

Continuing this session with Kimi 3.1 may affect output quality. Choose how to continue.

That reads like preparation for people moving an ongoing conversation from one model to another. Kimi Code already supports switching the model used in the current session; its documentation lists the /model command for exactly that. The new part here is K3.1 appearing in the switch configuration, with the wording to handle the handover. 3

Our guess is that the release is not far away. The model name, source identifiers and session warning are all in place in this response. There is no launch date in the excerpt, though, and it does not establish that K3.1 is available to everyone yet.
