Kimi K3.1 Pro looks imminent after tech-blog reference is pulled

Our monitor caught Kimi’s K3.1 Pro tech-blog reference being updated, then removed. It follows the Kimi Code switch rule we found earlier this week.

Kimi K3.1 Pro looks very close. This morning our monitor picked up changes to a K3.1 Pro tech-blog reference in Kimi’s site source. Shortly afterwards, it flagged the reference as removed. Someone appears to be getting the announcement ready, then putting it back out of sight. 1 2

That follows the Kimi Code finding we reported on Wednesday: a rule moving existing K3 model identifiers to k3.1, complete with a warning for users continuing an existing session. We now have the product-side preparation and a K3.1 Pro tech-blog reference appearing in the same week.

Our read is that the launch is imminent. The quick removal fits something being exposed ahead of schedule, although it does not tell us why Kimi pulled it or give us a confirmed release time. When we checked the public research index before publication, K3 was still its newest model post. 4

What K3.1 has been like to use

We have also spent time testing K3.1. It feels much quicker than K3, and the web interfaces it produces have reminded us of GPT-6 Astra with some of Anthropic’s eye for design. That is a subjective impression from our testing. 1

One example we shared yesterday was an interactive 3D train built from a single prompt, with a speed slider, assembly and exploded views, a wireframe mode and live stats. We linked it again in today’s thread because it captures why we are interested in this release. 3

The new reference calls it Pro, a detail Wednesday’s code did not give us. We have not seen pricing or a public rollout date yet.
